High Pressure Carbon Dioxide Suppression Systems
Carbon dioxide is a reliable, versatile and efficient fire fighting agent. It has provided decades of successful operation. It is a dry, inert, non-corrosive gas that will not damage equipment or materials or contaminate liquids or food. It does not leave any residue to clean-up, and as a result, business down-time is held to a minimum. In addition, carbon dioxide is a non-conductor of electricity, and can even be used without danger in spaces housing high voltage electrical equipment. Choose a High Pressure CO2 Fire Protection Solution.
Featuring innovative high-performance cylinder valves
• Patented cost-saving unibody design – does not have separate valve and discharge heads.
• Engineered for reliability – no top or bottom cap joints to leak.
• Simple to set up – slave valve operates from manifold back pressure … no need for a separate pressurizing line.
• High performance operation – clear unimpeded right-angled flow path.
• Easy to maintain – removable valve seat for quick replacement.
• Ingenious force differential valve – uses cylinder pressure to hold the valve closed.
• Machined brass construction for added reliability – no drop-forged parts.
Applications
Typical hazards protected by carbon dioxide systems are:
• Flammable Liquid Storage
• Chemical Laboratories
• Transformer Vaults
• Oil Circuit Breakers
• Engine Enclosures Pump Rooms
• Hydraulic Oil Cellars
• Gas Turbines
• Equipment Enclosures
• Storage Vaults
Low Pressure CO2 Systems
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a colorless, odorless, and chemically inert gas that is both readily available and electrically non-conductive. It extinguishes fire primarily by lowering the level of oxygen that supports combustion in a protected area. This mechanism of fire suppression makes CO2 suppression systems highly effective, requiring minimal clean-up, but should be used in normally unoccupied hazard locations or otherwise avoided by personnel when discharged.
Overview
• LPCO2 system have several advantages over HPCO2 systems.
• Do not require hydrostatic testing.-Continuous monitoring of the liquid level and tank pressure; the liquid level gauge provides standard alarm outputs or an optional 4
• 20mA output (HPCO2 cylinders must be removed from service semi-annually to be weighed)
• Require 40% less floor space and less floor loading than HPCO2 systems.
• Multi-shot capabilities without any switch over to a reserve
• Hazards may be added to an existing LPCO2 system at anytime.
• LPCO2 Storage Units can be refilled while remaining in service; HPCO2 cylinders must be uninstalled, sent out to a refill location, and replaced.
• Lower material cost when systems require more than 4000 lbs (1814kg) of carbon dioxide (40 or more 100 lb (45 kg) HPCO2 cylinders)
• For critical installations, dual refrigeration options are available for LPCO2 Storage Units
• LPCO2 systems are 30% more efficient than HPCO2 systems at local application
• LPCO2 systems have lower overall maintenance costs than HPCO2 systems
Foam Suppression Systems
Foam suppression systems combine specially designed foam concentrate with precise amounts of water and air to create an expanding blanket of foam that smothers a fire. These properties make foam ideal for protecting flammable and combustible liquids, especially in large volume areas such as airplane hangars and warehouses.
Features
• Removes the Fuel of the Fire
• Good for Flammable Liquids
• High and Low Expansion Types
• Foam Water Systems
• Rehealing, Fluoro-Free Foam
• Arctic Cold Weather Foam
• Class A Fire Foam Products
• Most Environmentally Friendly Foam on the Market
Badger - Class K WET CHEMICAL
The model most preferred and specified for Class K fires in Commercial Kitchens
Badger pioneered the use of wet chemical extinguishing agents and equipment technology for commercial kitchen fire protection four decades ago. Badger's innovative design and approach for a safe and effective way to address the various new Class K code requirements back in 1997 has become the industry standard for kitchen hand portable fire extinguishers.
The 6 liter fire extinguisher model is simple to use and extremely effective in handling the difficult types of cooking media fire hazard situations found in today's busy commercial kitchens.
Badger wet chemical hand portable fire extinguisher model are ideally suited to supplement commercial cooking appliance fire suppression systems for addressing tough Class K combustible kitchen cooking media fires.
Features
• Heavy-duty chrome plated brass valves
• Factory-filled 6 liter model
• Operator safe discharge hose concept with non-metal finger guard and protective nozzle orifice seal
• Soft 360° mist discharge stream prevents splashing
• ULC Listed—Meets TC/D.O.T. requirements
• Six year warranty
• Full stainless steel cylinder, base, handle, lever and hose band
• Hex valve collar tightening ring for easy recharge
• Easy-to-read two-piece nameplates
Small Space Suppression
Small obscured fires within CNC machines and electrical cabinets may go undetected until significant damage has occurred. Fike’s Small Space Suppression System ensures the detection and suppression of these potentially devastating fires at their source.
Electrical Cabinet & CNC Machine Fire Protection
The Fike Small Space Suppression System uses a flexible heat-reactive tube which is strategically routed through small applications. The tube is pressurized with nitrogen to activate the connected cylinder of 3M™ Novec™ Fire Protection Fluid to quickly and reliably suppress the fire.
1. A fire melts a hole in the tubing, which is pressurized with nitrogen.
2. Upon release of nitrogen pressure, the valve on the agent container opens.
3. In the direct configuration (electrical cabinets), 3M™ Novec™ Fire Protection Fluid is released directly from the hole in the tubing and directly onto the fire. In the indirect configuration, the agent is released from UL-listed nozzles and into the protected space.
