Dock Seals & Dock Shelters

Dock Seals

Dock Seals and Shelters improve energy conservation, help preserve internal temperatures and protect products from outside contaminants. If you think about it, each loading dock door opening represents a giant hole in the wall of your facility. Strung together, these dock openings present an enormous opportunity for bad things to enter your facility - think bugs, dust, wind, rain and rodents - and good things, like expensive heating and cooling energy, to escape. Dock applications, site criteria and facility operations vary and may require one feature more than the others. Many configurations are available from basic types of compression dock seals, standard dock shelters, inflatable seals to hybrid dock seal/shelter/inflatable designs. Dock seals provide a tight compression seal around the trailer top and sides for the highest sealing efficiency. Loading dock shelters give full, unobstructed access to loads on trailers.

Fixed Head Pad

Designed to suit door openings up to 8' W x 8' H (2,438 mm x 2,438 mm) to 9' W x 9' H (2,743 mm x 2,743 mm), the Fixed Head Pad Dock Seal provides airtight protection when servicing trailers of consistent height.

When in use, the fixed head pad dock seal enables an energy-efficient seal that keeps facilities free of airborne contaminants, pests, and inclement weather conditions.

Product Highlights:
  • Two foam side pads and one foam head pad wrap around the trailer opening, eliminating the gap between the building and the trailer
  • Polyurethane foam compresses to conform to the trailer’s shape during use, and resumes its original size and shape upon completion
  • 18" (457 mm) corner pleats
  • Double-stitching on all seams
  • Tapered at bottom of pads to eliminate bumper pinch
  •  A wide range of durable fabrics is available to suit all application requirements

Designed to suit door openings up to 8' W x 10’ H (2,438 mm x 3,048 mm), the Blue Giant Adjustable Inflatable Dock Seal has vertical air bags that increase the contact area against the trailer and tighten the seal to keep product secure. An internal retraction spring permits the header air bag to be fully retracted when not in use, preventing collision damage from incoming trailers.

  • Square-faced design enables larger contact area against the truck
  • Blower assembly with 1/2HP motor supports safe and efficient air bag deployment
  • A wide range of durable fabrics is available to suit all application requirements
  • Recommended for climate-controlled applications such as food storage, pharmaceuticals, and beverage handling.

Classic Dock Seal

Rugged ArmorPleat™ protection – Available on full length of side pads, ArmorPleats provide additional abrasion protection to extend the life of the dock seal. Available in high-strength, friction-resistant Durathon® fabric.
  • Head Pad Model: Traditional head pad – Foam compression head pad seals directly against trailer. Corner wear pleats provide added reinforcement.
  • Head Curtain Model: Adjustable head curtain – Pull-rope activation allows flexibility to manually adjust seal to varying trailer heights to ensure most effective coverage. Corner wear pleats provide added reinforcement.
  • Available Firefighter® header protection* – Optional Firefighter system prevents head pad from burning due to the heat buildup of compressed trailer marker lights.
  • Rugged ArmorPleat™ protection – Available on full length of side pads, ArmorPleats provide additional abrasion protection to extend the life of the dock seal. Available in high-strength, friction-resistant Durathon® fabric.
  • Triple-reinforced corner wear boots* – Multiple layers under outer Durathon friction-resistant fabric fortify corners, where earliest and most severe damage typically occurs.
  • Replaceable wear components* – Corner wear boots and head curtain face are attached with Velcro and are quickly and easily replaced, if needed, for simple, low-cost maintenance or upgrades.
  • Internal Firefighter® technology* – Triple-layer foil heat-dissipation system in header prevents burning from the heat build-up of compressed trailer marker lights.
  • Light-blocking header face* – Mini pleats close gaps caused by seal-breaking protrusions on backs of trailers.
  • Head Pad Model: Anti-sag head pad construction* – Backerless head pad with internal stabilizing panel adapts to trailer movement, preventing foam from sagging over time after repeated trailer impact and bouncing motion. Head Pad Model:
  • Head pad pop-off protection* – Unique mounting allows the head pad to pivot upwards freely, preventing it from becoming pried off the wall by trailers when yard jockeys are in use.
  • Head Curtain Model: Impactable header frame* – Flexible framing resists damage if struck by a trailer coming in too high.
  • Head Curtain Model: Head curtain stability system* – Self-locking design improves sealing integrity at trailer top and eliminates the need for wind straps. Prevents the curtain from blowing in wind and losing contact with the trailer.
  • Available PitMaster™ 4th-side sealing system* – Gaps beneath and around dock leveler and bumpers are sealed with optional PitMaster components, providing energy savings, improving cleanliness and helping pass inspections.

Dock Shelters

Dock shelters are enclosures that provide a wiper seal against the trailer top and sides for high sealing efficiency. They are constructed of industrial fabric curtains fitted with fiberglass stays to apply pressure.

We can offer a wide variety of loading dock shelters to fit your loading dock design objectives and budget. The seal at the top is created with a curtain designed to reach down to the trailer. This header curtain may be weighted or simply constructed of fabric, and can be self-adjusting or require pull-rope adjustment, depending on the model. The side curtains may or may not be equipped with features to seal around trailer door hinge gaps.

Create a safe and comfortable work environment for employees

Maintain a clean, energy-efficient environment by sealing the hinge gaps in your facility. A fully integrated galvanized head frame diverts rain water away from the loading dock area, ensuring a safe work environment.
Designed to accommodate 10' wide by 10.5' high (3,048 mm x 3,200 mm) door openings, the HingeMaster™ is a full-access dock shelter with superior sealing efficiency.
Durable head unit made from pressure-treated lumber and measuring 140" (3,556 mm) wide, with a 36" (914 mm) head curtain.

  • Interchangeable J-hooks are low profile and provide a top to bottom seal without limiting access to the trailer interior, eliminating the hinge gap on barn style trailer doors.
  • Durable side frames easily absorb impact from a misaligned trailer preventing damage to the frame and are built to last.
  • Top and side curtains are made from high-tear vinyl, and include fiberglass supports which complete the seal and maintain continual pressure against the trailer at the loading dock.
  • Projection starting at 21" (533 mm).
  • 22 oz. Hi-Tear vinyl base fabric.
  • Two vertical foam side pads with removable curtains for ease of maintenance.
  • High-visibility yellow guide stripes.
  • Replaceable foam bottom pads for easy maintenance and secure sealing.
