Purpose:

To educate Joint Health & Safety Committee Members (JHSC), or any employee, tasked with performing workplace inspections of the hazards associated with racking.  The course includes a textbook, form templates and a certificate of completion. 

In Class Topics Include:

• Review OHSA and Ontario regulations
• How to properly inspect industrial storage systems
• How to systematically identify visible signs of component damage
• How to accurately recommend replacement, repair or corrective action for damaged storage systems
• Investigating employee interaction with warehouse systems
• Current applicable design and installation standards
• Various types of storage systems, lift trucks, pallets
• Basic safety design strategies
• Potential rack hazards
• Rack damage identification
• Hazard classification   

Practical Training Topics Include:

• The program will provide the resources needed to perform a basic storage system safety audit.
• The attendees will be able to produce a clear and concise report, based on audit codes, regarding the general condition of various possible storage systems.
• The final report, ultimately submitted and retained by the Joint Health and Safety Committee, will present recommendations such as continued monitoring, replacement or repair to address deficiencies of the storage system.

Conducting a SafeRack Storage System Safety Audit not only helps protect your business and employees, it could assist in demonstrating Due Diligence to defend against or mitigate legal challenges from regulatory bodies should an accident occur.  An internal periodic rack inspection program that monitors unusual behavior / conditions of the rack or shelving system establishes that due diligence was exercised in the maintenance of the storage system. 

Each course meets all relevant government and industry standards and all trainers have been certified.  Training courses include both classroom and practical (hands-on) segments, review/recap of materials discussed, question & answer periods and a written evaluation.  Upon successful completion, each participant receives a certificate and record of training.

Training can be conducted at our on site multi-media facilities or at individual customer worksites.  Customized courses to meet individual company needs are available upon request.
