On May 8, 2008, 4 Industrial Mechanics from Equipment World Thunder Bay are honoured by Toyota Industrial for Achieving STEP 1 certification. .jpg) Featured left to right: Toyota Industrial Representative Barry Bonner, Equipment World Mechanics: Ken Nevala, Tim Weisflock, Chris Morin and Lloyd Elliott. Equipment World is proud to be a Toyota Industrial dealer. To ensure we meet the high standards of Toyota, our technicians must attend service training provided by Toyota Material Handling Institute (TMHI). Part of the training is done locally at our branch facilities but the majority of it is done at the Toyota training facility in Toronto, Ontario. Components of the training consist of Preventative Maintenance, Engine, Chassis, Drivetrain, Material Handling, Hydraulic Systems, SAS, Electrical Theory and Systems. Once the technician passes these components, they can write the Step 1 Certification Exam. They require a passing score of 70% or higher to receive their Toyota Step 1 Qualified Technician status. There are three levels of step training and once the technician completes and passes step three they would be awarded the Master Technician Certification. Toyota representatives are personally making visits to the dealerships to present the awards and show their appreciation to the technicians in the field. They realize that the technicians don't always get the recognition they deserve for making Toyota Industrial Equipment a success. Equipment World is very proud of our mechanics achievements and look forward to more of our team going through the process over the next few years.
